The Trib unveiled its new website today, and Crain's redesign went live yesterday.

what the world needs more of from its news providers: Safe, calming blue, designed to be bland and non-disturbing, much like the majority of their journalism.

the trib is disgustingly ugly.

Usually things get cleaned up when a new serif comes to town.

What? The Tribune redesigned their website last July. It was a shit box back then riddled with mark up errors and I see that they have gleefully accepted the same level of failure again.

Crain's you need to fire the douchebags that developed your site. At what point do you say "165 errors? Mission Accomplished!"

Ugh....the Trib site is illegible.

What's with that stupid font on the Trib's site???

What's with that stupid font on the Trib's site???

on my computer, whenever a page is loading very slowly, it often shows up with default (Times) font. When the tribune first put this up, I thought they must have been having server problems or my connection was slow. I must have hit refresh about ten times before I realized that it was intentional. ack.

I'm finding it difficult to scan headlines on the Trib home page as a result of the switch to Times.

Maybe it's a plot to get people to stop reading news on their website and start buying the paper again.

What's scary is that actually wouldn't be all that surprising if it were true.

I always used to dislike my crazy font-freak friends who seemed to care more about the typeface than the words they're forming.

But when it's really noticeable and annoying, I begin to see their side of things.

Whatever it is I'm sure it has to do with ad placement.

It seems to be an inexorable law of the universe, though, that whenever a newspaper redesigns their site, it will look worse than before. It's not just the Trib--all of them.

Crain's is free again, after a few years of it being a pay only site. I don't know if it's permanent or not.
