Here's what our local ne'erdowells have been up to while waiting in eager anticipation for tonight's Oscars:
A man who robbed a downtown bank on Thursday told the teller he was "drunk" and was arrested minutes later. Personally, we prefer meth when robbing banks -- keeps us "on edge". [S-T]
A gas station argument escalated into murder on the South Side. [S-T]
The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force now wants a piece of the UIC student who sent threatening emails. Hmmm, Gitmo cell or college dorm room... tough call. [S-T]
A Carpentersville resident had his identity stolen, and now the IRS wants him to pony up back taxes on over $60,00 in income. Oh yeah, the victim is 7 years old. [D-H]
Looks like the hammer is (hopefully) coming down soon on a satellite city clerk's office suspected of widespread skimming. [S-T]
The state's attorney's office may reopen the investigation of an accident last Thanksgiving that killed two men and involved a Chicago police officer charged with driving drunk. The DUI charge had been dropped earlier this month. [Trib]
Speaking of drunk driving, a Chicago man has been charged with DUI after causing a 5 car pileup in rural Kane County. [Trib]
A frozen body was found in a wooded area in Downers Grove. Police are now reciting "it wasn't Stacy Peterson or Lisa Stebic" more than Miranda rights. [DGS]

Friday Afternoon Diversion

And some fuckjob busted into my car via a broken window in broad daylight outside Pizza D.O.C. and stole my wife's dirty clothes and quilted bag with chickens on it. You missed that one.

Does the IRS have the authority to garnish his allowance?
"Chicago cops protecting and (ob)serving by TheeErin"
Great photo from the Montrose Avenue Sinkhole Flood. Looks like a shot from the CTA station.
The two cops in the picture are sargeants. At least in Chicago, CPD sargeants are on the streets as much as their officers.
can't believe that the cops let someone get close enough to take a photo of them without threatening arrest, or worse, barking, 'call news affairs!'
A risky 1/2 second pause up the stairs ...
