35th Snow of the Season On Its Way

2008_2_28.snow.jpg
Triptych by fjsjr

Psst. Down there. Hey! It's me! Nature! I live in the sky and throw water down on you whenever I feel like it. Guess what? I super feel like it this year. Guess what again? It's going to snow tonight for the 35th time this season. I know--it usually only snows 30 times all season. But I like to think of myself as a wild bird who can't be caged.

Sadly but truly, an Alberta Clipper is on its way here. (We still prefer to call it a "Saskatchewan Screamer", but we don't want anyone to get confused.) Expect some snow after 9pm tonight. [National Weather Service, Trib]

After the jump, what the inside of our heart looks like right now.

i wish the snow would just die and go to hell.

Viva invierno!

Muppets!!!!

(Shrugs) It's February, and it's supposed to be Winter, and the snow gives a little tonal contrast to what otherwise would be an incredibly drab outside world.

Also note how it has come - in blankets that have covered the land, giving it some beauty for a while, before slowly melting away. Slowly - that water, trickling down through a snowpack that will slow it in its natural tendency to flow downhill, is going into the soil, soil that is going to be less likely to dry out when the time for spring planting comes. The farms will be a little more fertile because of this, the land, where it is not under the plow, a little greener.

These are all good things, and we get to enjoy them all.

I have decided to vote for Global Warming in this years election.

Did somebody say "global warming"? Conservative vs. Liberal flamewar in

Excuse me while I go for cover. .. :)

I love the cold weather, it helps kill off the bum population.

Although I wish it could be more selective and pick off the races more evenly, for example: kill off some hispanics this year, some blacks next year etcetera etcetera.
