Best Kosher? I got something thats really kosher, allow me to bend over.

I like to run up to New Yorkers and say "we have all of our buildings, "we have all of our buildings", "we have all of our buildings"

Wood fired oven so the crust takes on this different texture?

How about pealed off a floor that was previously coated with jizz and then allowed to dry so that you can taste jizz texture.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Louis-style_pizza

St. Louis style is all about the Provel cheese.

And Boston/New England style is baked in a piping hot wood fired oven so the crust takes on this different texture from New York style.

I grew up on the east coast and the closest thing to authentic "NY style" pizza I've been able to find out here is Cafe Luigi on Clark, just south of Wrightwood. It's not 100% perfect, but I bet if they could get their hands on some Roma brand ingredients it would be damn close. Check it out!

What is St. Louis? Other than a boring, also-ran city? And Boston what?

Crust and sauce are like 90% of the pizza. If either of those suck, the pizza sucks. You can't make up for it by lathering on 5X of each..

@Joe:

It depends what you like in a pizza. If you're a fan of crust and sauce (which about 80% of all people are), New York or even Boston could be the way to go. If you're a fan of Cheese and Meat, Chicago and St. Louis style are the shit.

You're in the majority, I'm in the minority. And that's all good.

NY style inedible? Who really *likes* pizza casserole? Chicago style just covers up its lack of character with way, way too much crap..

Oh yeah...I totally forgot...who cares about free hot dogs? When Portillo's is giving away free chocolate cake then it's chicagoist.com newsworthy.

Santullo's is the best place for NY style in Chicago...hands down. But if you find yourself in NY find a Ray's Pizza...

Also...I think it's called Bacci's.There's one under the Addison Red Line. $4 buys you slice big enough to feed three people and free refills on the drinks.Try it out sometime.

@Matty:

All right, best place for NY style pizza in Chicago?

I prefer the Chicago style at other places, but when I feel up for some giant soggy crackers covered in marinara sauce, I go for Santullo's in Wicker Park.

wow@the sbarro's comment. If you think sbarro's is good in any city there's something wrong with your tastebuds.

And like anywhere, nyc "slices" are only good if you know the right places to go. Many of them are inedible.

Portillo's is one of the best hot dogs and italian beefs in the city. I know it's a chain and I know it doesn't have the character of Superdawg or Johnnie's but it's damn good food. Do other cities have it so lucky? Sbarro's is a supposed New York style pizza but something tells me it's shit compared to a real New York pizza place.

What's the reason? It's Lent and business is down because all the Catholics cannot eat meat? Ill, leftover hotdogs.
