@Spook: Whenever I ride the blue line, I end up sitting on an unmoving train outside the Damen stop for over 20 minutes, making me miss the open bar at Debonair. Also: It smells. Also: Where am I? And when I do get off, I am immediatetly deposited amongst the hipsters. And how do you think that makes my Gap Button Down feel?

Spav1 please keep in mind that because the majority of trixies( aka trixiods) ride the red and brown line, many more perverts who grope and expose themselves in front of women, ride the red and brown line as well. The same perverts fear the blue line because the women who ride, though artistically inclined and more interestingly dressed than the red and brown line Gap girls, are a tougher and more angry lot which makes them 100 times more likely to scream “you f*cking pervert!” or whip out a can of mace and bust off a couple of blasts at the offender who probably lives around Lake View Links. And the blue line males are much less wimpy, therefore when they hear a “scream of anger”, instead of burying their head further in the Red Eye; they drop their art institute text book, Camus, or New York Times and immediately jump into the fray, of course inspiring many romantic postings on the missed connections. signed, a proud member of the blue line community

I just need to steal the old typewriter that's sitting in my parents' basement, and I'm all set for my Russian Writers Party, solo-style... [I'm pretty much in love with this idea, by the way. If I had friends in the city that would be as thrilled by it, I would make it a real party. Alas.]

It is blocks away from Wrigley, but Sheffields isn't a bad bar at all. I think it would probably draw a much worse crowd of hipsters were it in Wicker Park or somewhere else. At least Lakeview is pretty stable. I'd like to be Bulgakov, maybe Erofeev if I was really wasted.

Brilliant idea, yo, but what the f*cking crickets is up with Lake View Links as a gathering place for all! I can see Spav1 and HatesPups along with the other yuppies hanging out there but serious writers and readers? Its blocks from Wriggly Field, which guarantees to limit the diversity of ideas and exchanges. But perhaps that group works better that way. But some how I think if Nabokov,Pushkin,Akhmatova, Tolstoy, etc, were still walking around on this earthly Earth they would not be wandering around Yuppieville, but in a hood were its denizen could inspire the stories that we love them for today. p.s I'd be Chekhov or Dostoevsky or maybe Puskin
