$60 Lollapalooza Tickets Gone in 60 Seconds (Give or Take a Couple Minutes) ... Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails to Headline

Early-bird cheapie 3-day passes for Lollapalooza went on sale this morning and, unsurprisingly, sold-out almost immediately. Since the bill has yet to be announced, folks who got the tickets are putting their faith in the promoters to not screw them over with lame-o acts. We're still reasonably convinced Radiohead will be headlining one of the nights, so in our estimation the $60 would be worth that alone.

What you say? You didn't get tickets and want to avoid paying $150 for a 3-day pass further down the line? Well, your next chance to get ccheaper tix will be March 25, so get that browser refresh button oiled up and ready before then.

UPDATE: Greg Kot is reporting "industry sources" have confirmed Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails as two of the fest's headliners. Funny; we haven't seen NIN live since the last time they played Lolla!

I've been monitoring the site vigilantly all week in anticipation of an announcement...

Still nothing on the main site. What kind of bullshit is this? How did people find out about this, and so fast?

As far as I can tell, the board admins posted something about it in the threads. I saw the link on the main site, but I must have refreshed at the exact right time, because it didn't work for a lot of other people. Also, you had to have cleared your cache recently for some reason.

Even though I'll probably go to Lollapalooza, does anyone else feel cheated that Radiohead might headline? They seem to come here about once every 2 years, if we're lucky and this time we have to see them at a Festival, with a bunch of other idiots? I'd rather see them at a place like Alpine where, although it's hard to get tickets, I know that if I do get in it'll be a much better experience.

does anyone else feel tired of people foaming at the mouth over radiohead?

Jesus Christ, yes. Yes!

of course theyre gone. and here I thought refreshing the page every hour or so would give me a leg up. But to not even post it on the main page? Thanks lollapalooza. I sure want to make this festival the center of my life, surfing the site non-stop for days on end to maybe get a discounted ticket.

(YAY)

I'm with you, mich. Only I was refreshing the damn page every 10-15 minutes since Tuesday, knowing that the window would only be open for about that long once the passes went on sale...

I'm sure a lot of friends and insiders got the whisper right before any official announcement was made. How else would you explain the passes selling out so fast when there were no e-mail notifications and no announcement on the main page?

There was an annoucement on the main page when the tickets were available, I saw it when I bought my tickets.

Also, the e-mail from earlier this week read like there would be no e-mail notification, so not surprised at that.

They did post it on the main page it went on just before 9:30. They sold out in about ten minutes.

There wasn't a link. There were tons of people in the forums, refreshing pages of the frontgate ticket site, lollapalooza's site and reading the forums when people said they got their tix.

But this didn't completely work - since I was refreshing as well and didn't get them (as well as many others.)

It took 3 days of waking up at 6am, reloading the site every couple minutes, and exploring every link each hour, but it finally paid off.

I never saw it on the main page, only the TICKETS page, but I did score a pair.

I actually took a zen approach this year. Rather than constantly refreshing, I just periodically went to the site to check it out. I knew the odds were low to get these, so I decided not to stress out about it.

I must say this WAS better than sending an e-mail out to everyone at the same time and everyone sitting in a shitty queue that never stops like happened last year.

It's kind of a shame given the amount of commercials they throw at you during this thing that they can't sell more tickets at this price, but I suppose business is business.

If you want a sneak peak of who is playing (or at least, acts whose managers have kept them free for the engagement), Pollstar has you covered.

Personal Noteables: MC Chris, Gym Class Heroes, The Aggrolites.

i too am tired of all the radiohead overkill. pitchfork covers Thom Yorke's every move and having splayed all over the Trib's website was ridiculous. it's one media blowjob after another - enough already. would have much rather have seen them separately from the festival - less people running around requesting "Creep."
