2008 Air & Water Show To Be a Three Day Event

Chicago's Air and Water Show is one of the longest running spectator events in the country. This summer the event will return for its 50th year and to celebrate the city is adding an extra day of festivities. At 3pm on Friday, August 15th the Air Show will officially kick off with performances from the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Army Golden Knights.
After the performances there will be a free concert at the North Avenue Beach Boat House followed by a fireworks display at 9pm. The talent for the concert has yet to be announced. The show will continue as usual on Saturday and Sunday. The 2008 line-up is still being determined but will include military and civilian acts. Civilian teams expected to perform include Lima Lima Flight Team, Aeroshell Aerobatic Team and Sean Tucker flying with Team Oracle.
We know our readers are divided on the virtues of the Chicago Air & Water Show, and many are likely to complain about this extension. But the way we look at it this extra day just makes up for the Sunday show last year being canceled midway through due to rain.
