Vampire Weekend is to "indie" as what Panic(!) at the Disco was to punk/alternative/indie/i wear makeup/i don't write tragedies, i write shitty pop songs ... Spiritualized! very happy about finally getting to see them. i have their live at Abbey Hall album and absolutely think this will be a great show. They definitely need a night time slot - humidity and Spiritualized don't mix.

I am completely sold simply because of Spiritualized. Never seen them before but they're one of my favorites. Outdoors, hopefully at night - that's going to be something special. Also - anyone wondering what all the Vampire Weekend hype is about - I'm asking myself the same thing. The album is catchy, but seriously, they will go the way of Cold War Kids: Remember when they were the next big huge awesome thing? And when was the last time you thought about them? Exactly. I think Vampire Weekend put together a catchy album with some well inspired songs - but no one will care about this album later in the year. It's annoyance will be it's own demise.

Public Enemy, !!!, and Spirutalized are a sweet start. Boris and M Ward should be awesome as well. Time will tell how the rest rounds out.

From what I heard, the company they rented their PA gear from was supposed to have sent people to actually run the damn sound, but they didn't. So the people running sound last year did so with little notice and no prior knowledge of the gear. More of a defense for the sound crew than for Pitchfork. One would hope Pitchfork will have their shit together this year.

I am going gonzo over Spiritualized playing outside, which has the potential to be an all-time great set. The problem is: after the terrible sound problems on the side-stage last year, I'm not too keen on giving the promoters any more of my money.

instead of "holy fucking awesomeness" how about Holy Fuck? i'm hoping they make the bill ... and since Animal Collective is here, would it be too much to ask for Caribou and Panda Bear? (probably) Burial? (never), maybe one of Spencer Krug's bands ... that is a very real possibility.
