Unscrew You

3_6_2008_lightbulb.jpgNow that saving the environment is rad, new campaigns, films, and celebrity endorsed informational websites are popping up all over the place. The latest is Unscrew America, a new campaign to get people to unscrew their regular light bulbs and replace them with LEDs and CFLs.

Yes, we know it sounds tedious and blah blah light bulbs, but the interactive website does a nice job of taking a boring but important topic and making it as exciting as an informational website about light bulbs can be. Navigate between two cartoon cloud cities that are packed with information about CFLs and LEDs, why it is important to make the switch, and eagles with laser eyes. Yes. Laser eyes that shoot out information.

Unscrew America was created by Lesley Chilcott, producer for An Inconvenient Truth, along with GSD&M Idea City to get the word out there that by doing a little you can help a lot, which we’ve all heard a million times, but how often to we follow it? While the site is useful for everyone, it is targeted toward "Millennials," who typically don't have the means to say, buy a Prius or build an Earth House.
That explains the laser eagles.

Still not sold on checking it out? Scroll to the “land” part of the website to view our favorite part-a PSA video starring Paul Rubens. Because with all the information there is today about how you can help save the planet you might as well have a little fun while you learn. And nothing says fun like Pee-Wee Herman changing light bulbs in a closet. Nothing.
