To add the above good points, withdrawal from Xanax can be very unpleasant, with extreme jitters, restlessness, and agitation.

Alprazolam(Xanax) is not an antidepressant. In fact it can cause depression. It is a sedative/minor tranquilizer. It is called minor to distinguish it from the early tranquilizers. There is nothing minor about it. It is twenty times as potent as Valium. It quickly passes the blood-brain barrier. It can damage GABA receptors in the brain. Alprazozlam is one bad guy.

is that a direct quote from the autospy report? cause xanax IS a benzodiazepine. it's not a cold medicine. benzos are anti-anxiety meds like valium, xanax, ativan, klonopin. anything whose fancy name ends in 'pam.' meds that people like heath ledger and anna nicole come to love.

so, i'm a little confused about the report referencing a benzo as a 'cold medicine.' if they start putting benzos in cold medicine, we're all in for a real interesting spring cold season.
