  • Congratulations to West Lakeview Liquors for being named to ratebeer.com's 10 best beer shops list. This evening they're hosting local homebrewer Rodney Kibzey, winner of Sam Adams "longshot" brewing contest. Kibzey will be on hand sampling out his weizenbock recipe. The tasting runs from 6-9 p.m.
  • Tomorrow is National Corndog Day. Instead of buying them frozen at the store, head to The Wiener and Still Champion in Evanston. Gus Nunya makes his corn dogs in the store using homemade corn meal batter, and they are delightful. Nunya will be selling them for $1.25 all day long.
  • Whole Foods Lakeview at 3300 N. Ashland is hosting a tasting of French wines and cheeses at 7 p.m. Monday. Cost is $10.
  • The House of Glunz (1206 N. Wells) is having a class on red wines Tuesday night at 6 p.m. The $35 class will focus on nine of the more popular varietals and how changes in terroir, vinting, culture and climate can subtly change flavors of the same styles of grape.
  • Sam's Wine and Spirits Lincoln Park store is hosting a spirits tasting Thursday from 5-8 p.m. The $30 event will range from rums and gin to cachaca and pisco.
  • Finally, one sixtyblue celebrates ten years in business with an $80 per person cokctail extravaganza, co-sponsored by Green City Market and ChicaGourmets. The event, which runs from 6-9 p.m., will feature seasonal hors d'oeuvres from executive chef Martial Noguier, a tasting of organic wines, an eco-friendly fashion show, and cocktails inspired by Green City Market.
