Grant needs to win. Motherfucker had CANCER OF THE TOUNGE and bounced back to maintain a world class restaurant. It doesn't get more badass than that. My favorite part is the fact he only missed ten days of work during three years of treatment. I'd hate to be a line cook at Alinea and try calling off because "the sniffles".

By the way, Geoffrey Baer's Chicago Food special on WTTW was pretty awesome too. I sat through and watched the whole thing and was really entertained and even educated by some cool stuff on there. I still love the picture of that guy who invented Saganaki, with his hair on fire, laughing his ass off. That's unforgettable. Flaming cheese? Only in Chicago!

Go Grant! I noticed Mindy Segal's name is on there too, and Hot Chocolate is fantastic. So go Mindy! I haven't been to Sepia or Alinea either, but now I have to go for sure. GO CHICAGO CHEFS!

Pulling for Grant, in more ways than one. I finally get to eat at Alinea this week, after collecting gift certificates for the past couple of years...

Truth be told we haven't had too many new opening in 2007. Haven't been to Sepia yet. Here's to new restaurants in Chicago in 2008!
