Controversial Rev. Wright to get New Mansion

03-29-08_wright.jpgObama revealed during a conversation, airing yesterday on The View, that his former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, has acknowledged comments he made were controversial and hurtful. A spokesperson for the Senator clarified Obama’s comments did not imply that the minister had regret over his comments.

Today, the Sun-Times is reporting the Trinity United Church of Christ is building a Tinely Park Home, valued at $1.0 million, for the minister. The Rev. J Bennett Guess, communications director for the United Church of Christ national office told the S-T in a statement:

"It is customary and appropriate in many Christian denominations, including the United Church of Christ, for local churches to offer housing provisions for retiring clergy, especially in cases where pastors have served long-term pastorates.“

The property, which is in the name of Trinity United Church of Christ, will feature a large family room with fireplace and bar, an exercise room, a spare room for a future pool or theater, an elevator, butler’s pantry, whirlpool, and four-car garage.

Who is this guy exactly?

He seems to have a lot of powerful ties...

This should be the story, not his "spot on" comments about American imperialism, but the fact that too many Negroes are worshiping in ATMs with a gold cross on top instead of churches. How can you talk about liberation theology while driving around in a porshe and living in a mansion, like a C.E.O?

God damn america seems to be working out pretty well for him and obama both live in mansions that one got for free the other got with help from a indicted soon to be convicted political donor.

I wonder if this million dollars home will tax exempt?

Ha ha,
So he's just like every other Christian big wig pastor but small time compared to a lot of the other high (holy) rollers.

McCain's boy (Katrina was God's way of punishing fags) John Hagee banks a million a year from his 'non-profit' church in addition to the mansions and such.

Jesus pays!

My father is a retired UCC minister, and I know many others through him. I have never heard of any of them getting a house, let alone one of that value, as a retirement settlement.

What is that line from the Christian scriptures? "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than ..."

Using religion as a cash cow, turning the reverence others feel for the King of Creation as a source of easy money for one and one's friends? No, nothing blasphemous about that at all.

Our pastor's so house-proud
Nothing ever slows him down
And a mess is not allowed

His house
In the middle of his street
His house
Is his castle and his keep

Navin dont you think there is a differnce between being someones pastor and getting an endorsment from someone. Hagee is disgusting slime like most pastors but Mcain doesnt go to his church and listen to his sermons and then say he never heard the sermons and then a week later say oh yeah I heard the sermons but i disaree with them. I love to hear obama talk he has feel good story written all over him but deep down he is a crook co machine hack willing to say anyting to get elected.
