Heads Roll at CBS 2

More local news mayhem. CBS 2 on-air employees Mary Ann Childers, Katie McCall and Rafael Romo were among the 18 people whose positions were eliminated today at the station.

From the Trib:

"There's certainly some staff reductions that are taking place," President and General Manager Joe Ahern said this afternoon. "We're not unique in the economic environments we're all involved in. The Tribune, the Sun-Times, Newsweek, ABC in network news, many, many others have gone through these reviews of staffing and resources in order to adjust to the economic conditions."

Childers was until today the station's medical editor and "special projects reporter." She joined WBBM in 1994 as an anchor and reporter, and according to her CBS bio, she was "the first female to anchor a leading 10:00 PM newscast in Chicago" when she was at WLS. [S-T, Trib]

Man they all looked puffed up and perfect looking, like they're all related like family, scary

I remember the days when Rob Feder would perv out for Mary Ann Childers in his Sun-Times columns (when she was the star at Channel 7).

Now his object of desire is Anna Davlantes, who never looked like that at Lane Tech.

"Now his object of desire is Anna Davlantes"

You spelled "Mancow" wrong.

OT...
Karl, is that a screen grab of the guy who took over the airwaves of channel 11 20 years ago?

It just so happens that I have a new position for Katie McCall...HEY OH!

OMG! Now who am I supposed to go to for my daily dose of wooden banter and meaningless bullshit? I guess I'll have to keep reading Chicagoist! (I kid, because I love!)

I certainly won't miss Romo as the man can barely speak English.
He's extremely difficult to understand.

Dumping Childers is interesting as her husband Jay Levine is still an employee there.
So my guess is that Levine will also be gone from WBBM-TV soon!

I notice that they quickly removed them all from their NCAA pool page. Diane Burns was leading the Channel 2 personalities and was only 2 points out of 1st place overall. Not bad picking.
