The Kennedy is has just reopened west of downtown after police successfully rescued a woman who was threatening to jump from the Hubbard Street overpass. Traffic is pretty jammed, though, after an hour of the highway being closed in both directions. [Trib, CBS]
did anyone else think of the scene from Lethal Weapon when Melly Mel was aking the guy "Do you wanna jump? Do you really want to jump? Do ya?"
also, i like that the "jump bag" would "potentially break the woman's fall" ... or not.
I really hate when someone's suicide plans conflict with my travel plans! I once remember when a woman killed herself by jumping in front of a northbound red line train at grand and stopped northbound traffic for hours! everyone had to get on shuttle buses or the brown line at like 11PM! took me 3 hours to get home versus my normal 30 mins!
sorry about that guys. i totally chickened out..i'll try to do it somewhere less busy next time.
Why jump from the Hubbard St overpass when our city is filled with lovely skyscrapers and drawbridges that would make for a much more scenic demise? Interrupting other peoples' travel plans is just plain rude!

my boss called saying he was going to miss a meeting b/c traffic was crazy and not moving. . guess we know why now.
she shoulda jumped. if you're going to inconvenience people by threatening to jump, you should at least have the common decency to go through with it.
yes, i'm an asshole.
Whatever happened to stoic forms of suicide, like filling one's pockets with rocks and walking into a dull indie film sunset?
why no story on the 1,000 cases of becks that spilled all over the stevenson this morning?
She was threatening to jump, as she neglected to vote in the last local election...

because the -ist likely couldn't find the 'story' to copy and paste from a MSM source. it'll be in the real papers, broadcasts, in the morning.
