One Great Sandwich: Ode to The Mess at Costello Sandwich & Sides

2003_03_themess.jpg
Chilly Sunday afternoon,
Hot tasty meal can’t come too soon.
Mosey up to Roscoe Village,
Costello, can’t wait to pillage.
Sandwich menu, quite amazing,
Several minutes spent there gazing.
Turkey, beef and all so cheesy,
Choosing one is never easy.
Scanning sides and combo meals,
Not sure which one is the best deal.
Then “The Mess” catches attention,
A sandwich with some real dimension.
Capicola, provolone,
Ham, salami, mind is blown!
Sides are promptly obsolete,
Since fries and slaw top off the meat.
Tangy cole slaw, rich and creamy,
On luscious meats is oh so dreamy.
French fries add a salty twist,
This sumptuous stacker, could not resist.
May not be full of nutrition,
But a shout out to Steel Town tradition.
Succulent and rightly toasted,
Sparked this poem, justly posted.

Costello’s, 2015 W. Roscoe and 4647 N. Lincoln.

Pure genius.

God, this place sucks. I fail to understand why such bland, overpriced food wins such raves.

Ali, you rock!

Best sandwich post, ever.

That looks so good... Im so hungry...

Outstanding. Costello's can be pricey, but I'm still a fan.

Goddamn.

Fine rhymes.

I didn't know Costello's did Primanti-style.

Awesome post to an awesome sandwich.
