Goccos Available at Paper Source
Goccos are the holy grail of the crafting world—simple, handy, solid—so when the Japanese-made printing machine (sort of like silk screening, but easier) went out of production, print fans were crushed. Since 2005, Goccos have been tough to find, but today, local stationary go-to Paper Source got some of the "big daddy" Goccos in stock. Ayee! The $395 PG6 can make prints up to 6.5" x 9.3", and Goccos can print on paper and cloth.
Local artists use Goccos to make ceramic goods, adroable notecards, frameable prints, notebooks and more. We recently had our first Gocco experience and were stunned by how easy it is to use and how swanky the end results looked, even on our maiden Gocco voyage.

I had a dream, in which I strangled a crafter and a “scraper of books?” “Book scraper?” of what ever the hell they call themselves. Well no I didn’t have that dream because the thought of prison scares me.
But feel free to have that dream for me!
yay! my sister and i are big gocco fans. we first saw it being demonstrated in Tokyo and were hooked. but we haven't been printing anything because the last of our screens were the end. Though...does Paper Source carry the small screens for the little boy gocco, or are we going to have to upgrade to the big gray one? either way, yay!
that's weird. i meant to write little blue but wrote little boy.
spook, why the crafter hate? i know some crafters are obnoxious, but compared to any other person with their "hobbies," at least most DIYers are doing our part to cut back on at most consumerism and at least mass-produced trends.
My beef Mo, is that they call themselves "Crafters",instead of artists? Feel me?
And only a crafter would by some Kay-tell/Ronco Machine like the above to make something. Isn't the point to make it by hand? Instead of buying a "mini machine"advertised on late night TV?
And I'm sorry but the whole scarp booking thing Son, what's that? I'm just against fads uless I start them, like reading books at not so crowded bars. Also the New York Style section is o.k too, for ideas, but that's about as commercial as I get
Hey Mo -
Paper Source says they don't carry supplies in-store, you have to order online.
Thanks for the local mention btw Margaret! There are a few other ceramists on Etsy that use Print Gocco, like Katie Parker aka New Work & Guy Michael Davis - They are, however, in other states :)
-Nancy
Thanks, Nancy. You just saved me a trip.
Spook, I know you're baiting, but since I'm bored at work...
Firstly, I think there are fewer people that get annoyed that crafters don't call themselves artists than there are who would get ill if crafters did call themselves artists. Woohoo, artists can be touchy about what is art and what isn't!
Plus, in my head anyway, the difference is the focus. If it's more about the process than the product, it's a craft for me. If it's about the product, it's art. That's just me, I guess.
As for the Gocco, I don't think you understand what it is. Screenprinters use chemicals to make their images into screens. Gocco uses light and heat to make images into screens. It just streamlines the screen-making process (though gocco screens can't be reused for other images--I'm pretty sure.) It's not cheating, as you imply. You are still making an image into a screen. I think an analogy would be using a film camera and using a polaroid. You can argue quality, but it has nothing to do with the creativity.
And scrapbooking, well, I never got that, either. But to each his own.
Yea Mo I was sorta baiting( now I'm no longer at work)
and honesty the machine looked so tacky that I just assumed it was
cheating, but actually it seems kinda cool and I'm sorta interested in the whole screen print thing. A friend just sent me some Jpegs of her stuff. Well at least we agree on the scrapbooking and hopefully the New York Times style section and reading in bars!
$400? Get a book from the library and do it right for less than $100. It's not that hard to do real screen printing, I assure you.
Opps I missed the 400 bucks! I missed placed he decimal
thanks Bronto! I revert back to my original comment, sorta!
;-)
I'm moving to Tokyo in August and taking orders now...
