Today Radiohead told us:
- they're headlining Lollapalooza.
- there are a bunch of other North American tour dates.
- they gave Pitchfork.tv an exclusive performance to help the indie media company kick off their latest venture. (You gotta see Thom get funky like Phil Collins on those drums.)
Yup, today's officially Radiohead Day.

HEADLINGING
radiohead sucks.
I still can't believe the only Radiohead we get is an f'ing festival! I know they're headlining, I know it'll probably be a 2 hour set and the venue will be great to look at but it's going to be pandemonium.
couldn't agree with mike_thoms more.
i'd like to take this opportunity to reiterate my statement regarding lollapalooza:
down front. me. halfway between jonny and thom. get the hell out of the way, or i will hurt you. thanks and kiss kiss.
Hey Celery Salt-
Gonna be wearing a thong?
lolla headliner lineup: my high school dream come true.
I am glad that Radiohead is on the Friday though, otherwise I'd spend the whole weekend pissed off and fretting about how I probably won't get to see them. At least I can get all that over with on Friday and enjoy the rest of the weekend. Still not happy though. Damn you Perry Farrel!
@Chicago J:
Of course! Is there any other outfit appropriate for Lolla? August? Body heat? Crowds? It's a no brainer. Plus, the green thong will be the ultimate ironic costume. I'll be the envy of everyone for having thought of it.
See you there!
What makes you think theyre friday??
According to their tour schedule they're playing Lolla August 1st and Indy August 3rd. I know that when some bands list Lolla on the tour part of their website they just put the first day it starts but I'm guessing Radiohead knows they're playing Friday night.
hey joshua: why do you care?
I second, that Radiohead indeed does suck.
@ artillery606:
great. that's two less bodies i have to fight through. in my green thong.
can we give these guys any more of a stroke job? i mean really ... i'm a fan and all but Thom Yorke takes a dump and Pitchfork and every one else is there to report it's color, texture and shape.
It's music festivals that suck. Radiohead can be quite good.
I don't know much about Pitchfork. I do know that indie rock is usually pretty boring, so I'll also say Pitchfork sucks, OK?
This band isn't horrible, but they're way overrated.
The only bad thing about Radiohead are their asshole fans......I don't HAVE to love Radiohead to love music or be a fully functional, productive, and educated member of society.
Could Lolla be any lamer?
The only bands that I would pay to see are raconteurs and wilco. Not worth the cost.
"Waah Waah Waah. I wish Lolla was filled with bands that no one else wants to see but me. Then I'd be the coolest, indie-ist person there. Waah."
Lolla has a great line-up this year though, probably the best yet of their rebirth. And hell maybe the best ever. Sure there are a lot of repeats from the last few years but those are good bands that are returning. There's something for everyone at Lolla, even though the price might be a bit steep for the kids who are only there to see Girl Talk or Okkervil River.
The best thing about Lolla over every other music fest this summer?
No Jack Johnson.
Lolla is definitely less jam bandy than some festivals, and yet the goddamn dirty hippies in their stupid long dress/pant things (what the fuck are those?) still come out wafting their patchuli stink all over the place.
Post of the Day!
"Waah Waah Waah. I wish Lolla was filled with bands that no one else wants to see but me. Then I'd be the coolest, indie-ist person there. Waah."
i heart radiohead.
@Mike_Thoms
You forgot that lame ass bundle of sage they light and wave over themselves like the smoke is "purifying" or some shit.
@ celerysalt - who the hell cares about your green thong.
And I don't expect a bunch of no name indie bands at lollapalooza. I just want some bands that would make it worth the cost for me to go. Since there are not enough, I will not go.
Nor will I go to pitchfork.
I'll be rocking out at neighborhood fests and Summerfest.
grumpy, grumpy there toyota! glad you're staying home then. good luck with the yacht rock at summerfest and ribfest then. i hear kenny loggins is GREAT live.
Leave Kenny alone ... "Don't Fight It" ROCKS!
hey look, my dad played the shit out of loggins and messina growing up, but if toyota is on the highway to the danger zone, i'm going the other direction...
...as in, up front. half way between thom and jonny. move along, people.
my middle aged ass will fight you in flip flops (aka "thongs", thus the origin of the joke).
