Smokey, The Horse That Paints

2008_04_smokey.jpgPutting other horses like Mr. Ed and Barbaro to shame, Smokey, a 12 year old Mustang at the Danada Equestrian Center in Wheaton, has learned to paint. Smokey's trainers started the painting activities as a way for the horses at Danada to battle cabin fever since the cold kept them from a regular exercise routine. Smokey emerged hoof and shoulders above the others as the most artistically inclined of the group.

If you find yourself desiring some of Smokey's artwork to adorn your living room wall, some of his pieces will be auctioned off at Danada's Derby Day fundraiser. His work will be available for silent auction or you can commission him for your own special, custom painting (we hope he does unicorns). Proceeds will go to care expenses for the Danada horses, like Smokey, as well as towards Danada's educational programs. Though be wary if you see Smokey's work listed on ebay. [Trib]

Gimmicks like this totally dilute the work of actual artists...this is the equivalent of the Yankees hiring a midget as a publicity stunt.

Please netflix "My Kid Could Paint That"

How does an artists work get diluted when the gimmick is designed to support a charity?

What I want to know is how one finds out their horse can paint.

Imagine the scenarios.

please tell me he doesn't have to wear that stupid hat in order to paint.
