well, that's just the thing. if it were just a chicago flag, it would give springfield even MORE of a reason to screw over the RTA some time soon. don't want the rest of IL to get too mad about us all thinking it's all about us, you know.... they're trying to honor ILLINOIS, people!!

State flags as a rule of thumb suck. There are a ton (Virginia, Nebraska, New York, Michigan, the list goes on) that are just some seal on a blue field. Bonus points if you plaster your own state's name under it just so people can tell them all apart. Maryland, Ohio, New Mexico, and Arizona are the only ones to really "think outside the box". And extra shame gets heaped upon Georgia. From 2001-2003 they had a blue field, a state seal, and a literal list of all the flags that have flown over Georgia placed on the bottom in some horrible graphic nightmare. i think it's a nice way for southwest to pay tribute to the state that is home to it's 2nd largest hub. remember, it's an artist's rendering of the state flag.

Perhaps we should design a new flag for the state, so that Southwest could have a better design on its plane? Relax everyone...it's not that ugly and it's only an airplane, anyway!
