
- Let's get the ball rolling with this evening's "Get on the Bus" fundraiser at Architectural Artifacts from 7-10 p.m., to benefit First Slice's new mobile meals program. the benefit will feature drinks, food prepared from First Slice's kitchen, and music. We've been to a couple events at Architectural Artifacts and it makes for a great venue for a fundraiser. Tickets are $50 in advance, $60 at the door. RSVP here.
- The American Institute of Wine and Food is sponsoring a walking tour of Chinatown tomorrow from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. with host Calvin Soh of Shanghai Terrace. The cost is $65 ($50 for AIWF members) and reservations can be made by e-mailing here. The tour starts at Chinatown Square, 2084 S. Archer.
- Pops for Champagne, 601 N. State St., is the setting for a tasting of sparkling wines from Argentina's Mendoza region from 3-5 p.m. tomorrow. Mendoza produces some of the finest sparkling wines in the Western Hemishpere, and the featured wines tomorrow are a brut and a rosé from Rosell Boher, a sparkling Bonarda and a sparkling Viognier from Alma 4. the cost for the tasting is a budget busting $10.
- Whole Foods' Lakeview is having a tasting of biodynamic wines and eco-friendly food Monday from 7-9 p.m. Cost is $10.
- Earth Day is Tuesday. In honor of the occasion, Prairie Grass Café is giving away seed packets to all guests to encourage organic gardening (Gardenist!). Additionally, they'll be giving away complimentary bowls of their morel soup with the purchase of any entree during lunch and dinner service.
- On Wednesday, Nia (and if you haven't read Stolpman's review, here's a second chance) is hosting an eight course dinner by chef Greg Cannon with Guillermo Trias from Solex & Heritage Wine Cellars. the $80 includes tax, gratuity and complimentary valet parking. RSVP to 312-226-3110.
- Finally, Taste Food and Wine in Rogers park will have Alpana Singh on hand for a tasting of over 40 wines, paired with light hors d'oeuvres, Thursday from 6:30-9 p.m. Cost is $30 in advance, $35 at the door.
