I went to DePaul. The security there is very strange, even for a college campus. They get hyper-vigilant about somethings, mainly anything that could get them bad news coverage or in hoc with the alumni, but really slow to respond about thefts, vandalism and more basic security matters.

You were better off just calling the cops if you had a problem.

Ha - I saw that briefcase on my way down the stairs to the Blue Line Jackson stop. It was sitting on those concrete barricade stumps. Obviously some lawbot left it there as he was getting into a cab and got distracted with thoughts of hookers and coke or whatever it is those people occupy their thoughts with.

There were two court deputies standing about 20 feet away, mostly shielded by the building support (in case it blew I guess) half-watching it. I guess if I'd surrendered to my impulse to grab the briefcase I would have been thoroughly questioned.
