The results from the biennial World Beer Cup (held this year in classy San Diego) are up. Goose Island represented yet again, earning silver medals for "#12" (English-style summer ale) and Matilda (Belgian- and French-style ale).
Other local winners included Emmett's Ale House in West Dundee, earning a silver medal for their Belgian-Style Dubbel, Rock Bottom Brewery's downtown location (a Gold medal for their Terminal Stout in the American stout category), and Three Floyds (a Gold for their Behemoth in the Imperial or Double Red Ale category and a bronze for Dread Naught IPA).
One other tri-state brewery of note won a medal. Shoreline Brewery in Michigan City, Indiana. Their Beltaine Scottish Ale earned a silver medal for Scottish-style ale.
This means road trips galore this summer.

Weekend Diversion: Night Of The Ponies

Dude! Maybe I'm confused, but isn't it Polson, MT?
Shouldn't the headline read, "Rock Bottom-Chicago Wins Gold at World Beer Cup"? We here in Chicago have a local brewer that wins a Gold Medal at the prestigious bi-annual World Beer Cup and it is not mentioned until the 2nd paragraph.
As I get off my soap box, congratulations to all!
the gold for behemoth is beautiful.
see you at darklord day!
Ummm, Rock Bottom is hardly local. More like national:

I just noticed that it was the Chicago location that won. I thought all the RB locations had the same beers, I must have been mistaken.
It's weird that the Chicago version of Rock Bottom continues to win medals for their pedestrian brews. Don't get me wrong -- I like some of the Rock Bottom offerings throughout the year, but their regular beers are really plain. How they could win a gold medal with them is beyond me.
