For those who are still craving Moonstruck - which was my favorite cafe to sit and work at in the loop - head to the 'burbs for your fix.

I haven't been to it yet, but I called and they said they don't plan on closing the one in Oak Brook. It is apparently next to Williams-Sonoma and across from Bloomingdale's Home + Furniture store at the mall.

116 Oakbrook Ctr
Oak Brook, IL 60523

"Crain's Chicago Business reports that the company simply couldn’t cope with competition from the variety of both coffee shops and chocolatiers in the neighborhood, most notably Vosges and Ethels."

Actually, Crain's Chicago Business sort of reports the opposite (or at least quotes a Moonstruck Spokesperson who says the opposite). They sure seemed to have plenty of business to me and it is not as if that stretch of Michigan Avenue looks to be going through a sharp increase in rents. So it does surprise me that they are closing.

i went on a chocolate tour last year for my sister's bachelorette party. this place was the last stop, and even though my stomach was full to bursting, i still remember the little flower-shaped sample they gave us, and i'm pretty sure i took it upon myself to buy some yummy truffles of my own.. it had a really nice atmosphere. sorry to see it go.

Oh man, that's too bad. I liked that place -- we had one in Champaign when I was in college, and so I have good memories of it.
