Must Love Dogs in Sweaters

We love dogs, and we especially love getting them all together for a play date. That’s why we’re looking forward to the 14th annual Bark in the Park event going on this Saturday at Montrose Harbor.

The event starts with every dog’s favorite activity - a 5K walk along the lakefront, and after that it turns into a canine carnival. There’s lots to do with our four-legged friends including an obstacle course, a pet trick showdown, a doggy fashion show and souvenir photos. (Like the kind you get at Six Flags?) We’re most looking forward to the dog-owner look alike contest. It might be reason enough to go just to see pups suited up in mini versions of the same turtleneck sweaters their owners wear.

At $25 the registration fee might seem a little steep, but the event benefits the Anti-Cruelty Society, which rescues and rehabilitates abused animals and finds them loving homes. Our hearts are officially warmed.

Bark in the Park is at Montrose Harbor, May 3, 9:00 a.m., $25. Register online.
