The prosecution rested its case against Tony Rezko today, and the defense declined to call any witnesses. Judge Amy St. Eve asked Rezko if he understood what waiving his right to testify meant, and satisfied that he did, she took three defense motions under advisement. St. Eve is going to give the jury a week off and reconvene Monday for closing arguments.
On the off chance that someone is considering making a Tony Rezko movie, please cast Miguel Sandoval as Mr. Rezko.

Perhaps the film could be called Rezkoalition or Only My Mom Calls Me Antoin. [Trib, S-T, AP Rezko photo, Sandoval photo via NBC]

Sandoval is good, but to really nail it you need to cross-breed Hector Elizondo and Dr. Phil.
I was thinking Chevy Chase would be a good candidate, but, only if its being aired on the Lifetime channel.
The inevitable ritual of American culture: Who should play whom in the potential biopic. We all get to show off our pop-culture cred, and attempt to be witty or merely funny. Rock on.
...except for Matilda. She never attempts to be witty or funny, and thus has no pop culture cred.
And playing the part of Matilda will be the teacher from Charlie Brown.
And all they have are pop culture references, the cheapest currency of our culture.
If Sandoval is in it, can it PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be directed by Alex Cox? Those two together is always a recipe for high entertainment!
