Man Dies Saving Daughter

Joseph Richardson, 39, died last night saving his 4-year-old daughter from a car that crashed into them on the sidewalk.

Richardson and Kaniyah were walking near 95th and Wentworth when a car ran up on the curb and over the sidewalk, smashing the two into a fence. According to police news affairs officer Marcel Bright, "when the car hit the curb and ended up on the sidewalk, the man shielded the child from the impact of the car and that probably saved the child's life." Kaniyah suffered severe injuries, but her family expects her to make a full recovery. [S-T, Trib]
