The Friday Flashback: Local H and Cheap Trick

Ten years ago last week Cheap Trick played a four-night stand at Metro to celebrate their 20th anniversary, playing one of their first four records each night in its entirety. Local H, wrapping up a week's worth of shows at Beat Kitchen this week, was just starting to break onto the local and national scene.

One of the things that makes Cheap Trick so enduring is that they can rock hard with the best of them when they need to, as evidenced by this video. It's Local H at Metro in 1997 with Rick Neilsen and Bun E. Carlos giving a helping hand to a cover of Cheap Trick's "He's a Whore."

Shocking, I was sure that was going to be a Tankboy post :)

We're switching today, Bill. Jim's tackling food later in the Diversion.

Kidding

Still kicking myself for not going to one of these. :(

I will be there Saturday and Sunday. Honestly I'm most excited about finally getting to hear "What Would You Have Me Do" live...i wonder if they'll stretch it out to the full 20 minutes.
