Over the past two days, various Tribune properties have been all over a story that was supposed to be under a media embargo. So, what's good for Phil Vettel the goose is good for the gander.
A press conference has been scheduled next Tuesday at Millennium Park for a city-wide event September 26-28 at Millennium Park titled "Chicago Gourmet: A Celebration of Food and Wine." The Tribune is calling it a "gourmet version of Taste of Chicago;" Vettel and Monica Eng report that local chefs participating in the event include Rick Bayless, Graham Elliot Bowles, Paul Kahan and Gale Gand. Other chefs and wine experts will be announced at the press conference.
The event, co-sponsored by the Illinois Restaurant Association, is part of Mayor Daley's desire to highlight the fine dining aspect of the local restaurant scene: the places that attract attention to Chicago as a world class dining city. All the events and demonstrations associated with the event will be centered in Millennium Park, which is another crown jewel in His Elective Majesty's time in office.
