A New Video For A 5-Year-Old Song?

Kill Hannah are so Kool

Kill Hannah has put out a call for volunteers to appear in a video they're shooting for "Boys & Girls" this Sunday. They are looking for:

talented Females and Males to perform on camera. 18-27, CHICAGO LOCALS ONLY PLEASE. You don't need to be a professional dancer, but you need to have moves. Come dressed to Kill.

If you're interested in "an unforgettable time with Kill Hannah" send your headshots here. Of course there is one major downside to this; you have to spend "an unforgettable time with Kill Hannah."

It really never gets old. Jim, the next time I see you remind me to tell you the story about running into Mat Devine at an Absolut party at Union Station.

Gave me the douche chills.

I wonder if they'll accept my "headshot" that's just an armsock.

man just like the real world auditions all over again.... im too freakin old.

Supposedly, gossip bloggers are reporting that Mat Devine is dating Kirsten Dunst. I don't read gossip blogs, so I don't know any other details.

Sadly, I was really into this band when I was 16 (eight years ago). Then I went to a secret show they did in an old warehouse, and Carson Daly was there. Weird.

Somebody told me that a commenter on a blog said that Mat Devine is dating Tankboy. Tankboy LURVES Kill Hannah!

Allegedly.

This band sucks more than Gapers Block! How old are these dudes now???

I liked Kill Hannah many years ago but sorta outgrew them. However, any band that can support themselves and tour around the world without day jobs warrants a modicum of respect in my mind, even if I don't really listen to them anymore.

As I recall, Tankboy and the singer of the band fought over a girl. I strongly suspect that this is the reason he consistently takes pot shots at a band that has been part of the Chicago music scene for 12 years.

No, he probably takes pot shots b/c its amazing that a band that sucks so hard is part of the Chicago music scene for 12 years (no way its been that long). Most likely b/c they pander to 14 year olds.

Plus, I think they do have day jobs. No way they can afford to live off the band.

Their first release and show was in 1996, so yeah. 12 years plus or minus a few months.

I know some of them DJ, but other than that I'm not sure what day job would give them 9 months off a year to tour. By all accounts they are a working band that supports itself with touring and merch sales.

By no means am I a super fan, but any band like that gets my respect, even if all of their fans look like Pete Wentz on a bad day. It just means that I don't listen to them.

RatCats, Matt and I never fought over a girl, though I did reference a goofy pre-historic rivalry of ours for one girls affections as playful color in a review I did a long time ago for donewaiting.com -- which was actually somewhat positive -- of their major label debut.

My primary problem with them is the same one I had with The Redwalls (until recently) and that is their inability, either willful or due to constraints of talent, to progress at all. It's boring. And yes, they come across as trying to write the same set of songs for the same fanbase every single time.

And my criticism is of Kill Hannah as a b(r)and. In reality I know that each of its members are very talented musicians -- Jonny in particular -- so I find it frustrating that as a unit they haven't progressed at all since their early demos.

All that said, I did still run an announcement for their video shoot because I know that they do have a good number of fans in the area that would be interested in participating in something like this. I may not be a fan of the band, but I certainly have no problem with them, or their fans, having fun.
