Arson Near Daley's Summer House Tied To Cougar?

2008_5_16.cougar.jpgWe knew you couldn't stay out of the news for long, Roscoe Mellencamp, famously deceased locally-roaming cougar! We just didn't really expect this. Police are investigating a fire they say someone set last month near Mayor Daley's vacation home in Michigan, possibly out of anger over the death of the cougar. The fire didn't damage the Daley home, but it did destroy one of his neighbors' houses and damaged another.

Daley apparently received a threatening note at his City Hall office, and according to the Trib, "Berrien County Sheriff's Detective Mike Danneffel said the letter indicated that the fire may have been set in protest of the April 14 shooting of a cougar on the streets of Roscoe Village in Chicago." A spokeswoman for the Mayor hadn't heard about the letter, though, which seems strange. So far, police don't know if the person who sent the letter is even the same person that set the fire, so let the head-scratching investigation continue. She probably just went into knee-jerk denial mode out of habit.

It was the cougar's ghost!

it was the cougar's gang, on a misdirected revenge spree where innocent bystanders are the ones affected.
