Cyclists Cruise the Drive

Lake Shore Drive has just re-opened after being closed since 5:30 for the annual Bike the Drive. We were at 31st Street and snapped a few shots on what has turned out to be a gorgeous morning for riding bikes. No word yet on whether any bikers were consumed by the potholes that plague the drive. More photos after the jump.

Awesome pics Tim!

Thank God that's over. Now I can use the drive as the Good Lord intended.

As a participant, I'd like to add that the north end of the Drive was very technical, owing to the combination of a harsh winter and a road crew that hasn't patched up all the potholes yet.

I might have bunny-hopped my bike from Lawrence to Bryn Mawr. Very good for the suspension.

Couldnt have asked for better weather...absolutely sublime. I had never done a ride of this length and wasnt sure how I'd fare, but I finished the 30 miles in 2 hours and actually felt like going more. Well organized and plenty of water/food at the rest stops. Although the registration fee is a little absurd..

So when are they going to depave it?

p.s I can't wait for the additional greenspace
