Witness To Testify Three Is The Magic Number For R. Kelly

2008_05_rkels.jpgWe hope R. Kelly rested up over the long weekend, because it's looking to be another rough week for him in court. A witness is expected to testify tomorrow that she participated in a ménage-à-trois with R. Kelly and an underage girl (different than the one involved in the current trial). There have also been allegations that there's a sex tape of this alleged encounter. The impending testimony had been discussed in secret hearings back in April, along with several other pieces of evidence, to avoid any publicity that might taint the evidence.

Last week was a rough start for the R&B star. Eight prosecution witnesses identified that the man on the tape at the center of the trial was Kelly and that the girl was underage at the time, as young as 13 or 14 years old. In an attempt to deflect the allegations, Kelly's defense team played the old Marlon Wayans Defense. The defense also made waves by asking "the trial judge to compel Cook County prosecutors to file criminal charges against one of their own witnesses." Not a good sign. They also want to subpoena DeRo to find out more about his role in handing the tape over to police and whether he made additional copies of the tape that he then showed to sources. The Daily Swarm has a nice rundown of DeRo's involvement in the case.
