Indie Arts Market Hits Schubas on Saturday

iamposter.jpgWe always tromp down Belmont to Paper Boy any time we need to buy someone a birthday card, because the stationary store usually has a nice little selection of cards handmade here in Chicago. We have an affinity for Chicago's DIY scene, and are complete suckers for anything fashioned by local artists.

After browsing the racks at Paper Boy the other day, we picked up a flyer for the Indie Arts Market, featuring handmade art by Chicago artists, and taking place this Saturday at Schubas Tavern. Work by over thirty local artists will be displayed for sale, including paintings, jewelry, stationary, sculpture, and much more.

Many of these artists have been deemed as "up and coming," so hopefully the event is nice and crowded in support of those trying to break into the local art scene. Visit the website for a complete list of featured artists.

Are "Indie Arts" kinda like "Etsy"? Or, is this something completely different?

Etsy is actually sponsoring the event. i couldn't find much other information, but i know everything being featured is 1. handmade 2. local.

Aha...I thought "Etsy" was a description for something "indie" or "handmade". Color me confused.
