Wednesday Afternoon Diversion: How To Use A Space Toilet

2008_05_space.jpg

Is it us, or does the work week after a three-day weekend actually feel longer? Never fear, it's halfway over, but that still doesn't cure our Hump Day Blues. And we're not the only ones having a long week: three unlucky astronauts on board the International Space Station are currently without a fully-functioning toilet. We'd go into details but, um, no. There's hope that the astronauts from the shuttle Discovery can lend a hand when they visit next week. Until then, best of luck, boys.

Normally, we don't pay much attention to stuff like this, but we actually have a Dad hard at work on a second toilet system (same as the current one) that is being sent up in 2009 to help the space station handle a larger crew. When we emailed him about it, he sent us, among other things, this hilarious video. Nice one, Pops.
