Rev. Michael Pfleger is coming under fire today for comments he made about Hillary Clinton while guest-preaching at Trinity United Church of Christ. Pfleger, a Catholic priest at St. Sabina's on the South Side, is a "long-time friend" of Obama's, according to both the Trib and the Sun-Times. Pfleger recently stepped down from Obama's Catholic advisory council and from the Catholics for Obama committee.
The Clinton campaign said Pfleger's remarks are "divisive and hateful," and "totally counterproductive," and called on Obama to "specifically reject" the comments. Obama said in a statement that he's "deeply disappointed" in Pfleger's "divisive, backward-looking rhetoric." [S-T, Trib]

Pfleger is an embarrassment to Chicago Catholics - now I know how some people feel when John Hagee, Al Sharpton, or Pat Robertson open their big fat mouths.

Jesus Christ, I couldn't be any more burnt out on this primary already. Now they're recycling controversy. We get it, religious people say dumb things constantly.
OK I guess The Stroge and G-Rod are also bad. But Peefleeger is right up there with them in terms of douchebaggery. I saw the guy speak once...he is an embarrassment.
Fr faker is a long time assHole. the man makes a mockery of the catholic church and yet he is allowed to circumvent the rules as he see's fit. He loves the publicity and is a jessie jackson Rev meeks wannabe more in love with themselves and self importance than any religion.
Imagine what would happen if humanity were evolved enough to yes, talk about these stupid preachers, but yet be able to spend 1000% more time debating the details of candidates' health care plans; environmental records; and other such matters that are drowned out by our culture of all outrage, all the time.

It's really, really sad and disappointing that this is even a news story at all.
I've lost all hope that people will ever concentrate on the actual issues at stake in this election cycle.
It is exactly BECAUSE of his positions on the issues that I will be voting against Obama.
The preacher problems that Obama are not that surprising.
Pfleger, of course, is just another race-baiting con man who is milking anti-white sentiment.
While most charges of political correctness are b.s. and used to silence cultural freedom fighters. Pleger's P.C. comments only undermine those actually fighting racism.

I think Matilda hit it right on the head. My Uncle likes to show me videos at family parties of Obama not having his hand over his heart during the Start Spangled Banner or whatever inane gossip people are using to make "informed" decisions. My favorite is to follow it up with I am voting for whoever "says" they are a conservative/liberal. Didn't Bush run and that platform and actually expanded government? Clinton reforming welfare?
Whatever happened to closing your eyes and actually listening to positions?

I respected McCain's position on his whack-job pastor (Hagee) support by saying something to effect of while he may support me, I am not obliged to support his views. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Pfleger hasn't been on the nightly news in a few weeks and saw an opportunity to get his mug on national news. The guy is like jesse jackson. They would show up at the grand opening of a dry cleaner if they thought news crews would be there.
The bad thing for Obama is that the people that live in the Chicagoland area know he is a tool. The rest of the nation doesn't know that.
It will be interesting to see if the good Cardinal has finally had enough of his race baiting diatribes and cuts him from the team.
