The Friday Buffet

- The United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Chicago's annual Great Chefs Tasting Party kicks off at 5 p.m. this evening at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers. The $100 per-person ticket grants attendees access to samples from 38 participating restaurants. ABC7's Steve Dolinsky is one of the co-chairs for the event.
- West Lakeview Liquors, usually noted in these installments for their beer tastings, is hosting a vertical single malt scotch tasting tomorrow from 6-9 p.m. featuring Highland Park Single Malt 12, 15 and 18 y.o. versions. Oh, it's also free.
- Mayfest Chicago kicks off tonight and runs through Sunday in what should be perfect beer and brat weather. Hey, PBR is a sponsor.
- 777 Wine Week kicks off Monday at David Burke's Primehouse. For an extra seven dollars, lunch guests at Primehouse can sample seven different wines for a $7 donation to Common Threads. Primehouse's lunch hours are 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. daily.
- It's girl power at Wine Styles Belmont location Tuesday. “unWINEd” Your Mind, Body & Soul is a women-only event sponsored by Susanne MacDonald, an investment advisor with the John Hancock Financial Network, who'll be doling out financial advice among the wine tastings. Cost is $10 and the event runs from 6-8 p.m.
- In Fine Spirits in Andersonville is the setting for a seminar on New Zealand wines Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. The guest of honor will be Chicago native Brianne Fisher, managing director of Paritua Vineyards (Stone Paddock wines) and Oceania Wine Group (Mount George Vineyards White Wire and Red Wire wines). Cost is $25 and reservations are strongly recommended.
