CPS Special Ed Teacher Killed
Erika Prince, 32, was shot and killed yesterday near 87th and Euclid. Prince was a special education teacher at Arthur Dixon elementary school, where she'd taught for the last six years, and she herself was an alumn. Her nine-year-old daughter is an honor student there, too.
Prince was shot while parked outside a relative's house, while her niece and two children went inside to pick up their things. Police haven't identified a motive yet and say it may be a random shooting or a case of mistaken identity. So sad. [Trib, S-T]

This is unbearably sad, like all the stories about decent men and women whose lives are stolen.
How can we pretend that this is the "greatest country in the world" when a lovely lady like this one is murdered when she is out with her kids?
How can we use our tax dollars or create a monumental deficit to barge into other countries to show them the way, when our own citizens cannot travel freely in their own neighborhoods?
How many people does this have to happen to before we wake the heck up and do something about it???
Ditto.
