Bomb Threat Linked to LGBT Documentary

The Chicago Police Department is investigating a bomb threat made last night to the WTTW Channel 11 station. Officials say that the threat may have been tied to last night’s premiere of the station’s new LGBT documentary, Out & Proud in Chicago.

Dana Starks, Chairman of the Chicago Commission on Human Relations, issued a statement in part saying, "More than anything, this incident emphasizes the importance of providing education on the harmfulness of stereotypes which lead to discrimination — and even hate.”

In other less-than-gay-friendly news, Lacy J. Banks writes on his Sun-Times blog:

What makes sex bad is sin. God's word forbids his Christians from committing adultery, fornication, rape, homosexuality, pedophilia and incest among other sexual transgressions. And as a Christian preacher, I can not preach against one of these sexual sins and not preach against the others.
[Ed note: I also like the part where Banks writes, "many adulterers, homosexuals, fornicators, rapist sand whatever other sexual malefactors will make it into heaven because they will have repented of their sins." Remind me again what this has to do with cancer blogging?]

I heard that the phone caller sounded suspiciously like Lacy Banks.

The Out & Proud in Chicago documentary was very educational and informative. I was moved by the stories of the documentary's participants. The gay community and organizations back then seemed to be much more diverse then than it is now.

Regrading Lacy J. Banks, his so called religious statements are just ignorant, inaccurate, and stupid. It's too bad he doesn't know this.

Well, the blog pisses me off, and I wonder if Drs. McVary, Moran and Gerber appreciate being associated with such a blog (although it is press). But, Banks is entitled to his opinion, no matter how much you or I may disagree.

But Ward, you have a lot of balls suggesting that the caller is Banks. Sure, throw it out there. do you have any proof? Because someone could just as easily say it was you, couldn't they?

rolling eyes

sparky, if you can't read internet snark without getting your panties in a bind, then you're in for some major hardships.

I, for one, thought it was too funny.

Whatever, Tread.

See, "rolling eyes" conveys to me that you think I'm an idiot. I get the tone. In Ward's, there was no tone. The onus is on him to provide one. So, (pulling my paties out of my ass crack) excuse me if I thought he was serious.

Um, no, Ward's tone was perfectly clear.

Yea Sparky don't get all "Tilda" on us

Great! You read my tone perfectly.

Apparently, you need guidance by way of emotive.
