Christ, this is one of the battles she has picked? Seems like another Chicago moron fighting battles that have little to do with daily life in this city. What a pathetic bunch of "leaders." What's next--A Sandi Jackson-sponsored resolution calling on airlines to improve their snack selections? I mean, peanuts and pretzels are an insult to working people, right?

I am totally against these new fees by American Airlines. Not in favor of suing, mind you, but still against the fees. The problem with the fees, as I see it, is that on a round trip ticket, taking 1 bag will add $30 roundtrip and adding a 2nd bag (which is often necessary because of weight requirements) will add $80 rountrip to the cost of a ticket, is that more people will now try to cram all of their crap into their carry-on, which will significantly slow down the already snail-paced security lines. I do actually think that this fee is a bit discrminatory, although not for the reasons Sandi Jackson cites. My mom uses a CPAP machine for obstructive sleep apnea at night and that baby takes up almost an entire suitcase. She can't live without it - quite literally. And it's too big to take on the plane. She ALWAYS has 2 checked bags. So far, when she's flown since the airlines have started the $25 for the 2nd bag fee, she's never been able to get the airlines to waive the fee due to her medical necessity. That, I think is wrong and discriminatory.
