Not that there isn’t always sort some of comedy show happening here in town, but lately there has been sort of a surge, what with the Improv Comedy Festival just wrapping up and last weekend’s aptly (and hilariously) named Snubfest Comedy Festival – comedians snubbed from the Improv Fest lineup.
If you are still craving a dose of comedy, consider checking out The Playground Theater’s comedy variety improve show, O.I.N.K., featuring many local comedians and troupes. Although the show happens weekly on Wednesdays, a notable performance for this evening will be by up-and-coming local joker Nick Vatterott, who was recently featured in Time Out Chicago. The rest of the lineup includes:
- Big Dog Eat Child (from Boozelegger's Ball)
- Las Madres Del Football (the house improv team)
- Chris & Roger (comedy duo)
3209 Halsted, The Playground Theater, $7 ($5 for students), Wednesdays, 10 p.m.

I've seen this show before with some friends. Las Madres del Futbol are funny, but weird as all get out. Nick Vaterot is the funniest guy in Chicago in my opinion... seen him at iO a bunch and Zanies a few times before... coolest thing about the Playground is that its BYOB!
Nick Vatterott is a great comic to watch, and OINK is a fun show. If you want to see some more stand-up at The Playground Theater you can come to the Blewtenanny! this Saturday the 14th at midnight for a FREE stand-up show with some of Chicago's best comics: Jarrad Apperson, Dan Telfer, Ricky Carmona, Andrew DeWitt, Ken Barnard, and Robert Buscemi.
