R. Kelly Acquitted

The Trib is reporting, "R&B superstar R. Kelly has been acquitted on all counts at his child pornography trial, according to a court reporter's account displayed in a room set aside for the news media." Yeah, we can't believe it either. We guess the Wayans Defense has legs!

I believe I can be acquitted

TB, looks like he employed your "basic tenet of existence." And it worked!

Well, "it wasn't me" is a pretty powerful tool to utilize in any defense situation.

Was hoping to never see his ugly face or hear his shitty music ever again. They obviously found 12 or the biggest idiots in Chicago to serve of the jury.

The prosecution in no way met their burden of proof. They couldn't even call the "victim" to the stand because she consistently denied that it was her.

In now way could they have made their case beyond a reasonable doubt without the victim.

Why is this "bogus" and "sucks"?

This is an example of the justice system WORKING because it weeds out charges that are obviously brought for the wrong reasons, ie a 5th generation copy of an alleged sex tape mailed anonymously to a reporter. Now THAT'S bogus.

No victim, no case. This has gone for far to long and cost to much money. Glad I can now go back to not listening to R. Kelly music.

I'm with Spav1. (I can't believe I said that)

Thanks Matty.

This is just another case of liberals acting ass backward and not in their own self-interest. I mean, aren't we all always complaining on this site about the inherent racism involved in out legal system. And then a black man gets (rightfully IMO) aquitted and you people are all "This is AWFUL"

WTF?

I've experienced the frustration of sitting on a jury and "knowing" that there was something foul about the defendant, but not being able to convict because the prosecution failed to prove the case. The outcome of an individual case may not always be the one that's desired, but a rigorous test of burden of proof is one of the greatest protections we enjoy under our system of jurisprudence.

This is just another case of liberals acting ass backward and not in their own self-interest.

Oh shut up about 'teh librlz' would you.

I'm a proud liberal and believed justice was served. The prosecution's case was weak and you have no choice but to acquit, even if you have a *feeling* that he was most likely guilty.

I too am a liberal, which makes it OK for me to hate 99% of the spineless idiots in my party.

And yeah, if anyone of them had come out and said exactly what you just said, then I would've kept my mouth shut, but instead I am subjected to such biting commentary as "Bogus".

For fucks sake.

I just hope the Little Man defense doesn't take off in legal circles. I mean, seriously, the prosecution's case was a joke, and instead of focusing on THAT, they try to create reasonable doubt by comparing the video to LITTLE MAN?!

Sigh.

"alleged video tape"? as someone who has seen this tape, it is not alleged at all. it's also not hard to CLEARLY see that it is R Kelly. On top of that, the incident happened in his basement which looks like no other basement in the world. the fact that he paid off the victim and her family hurt the prosecutions case no doubt, but your logic about the videotape not being valid and damning evidence doesn't hold water

It's safe to assume that Mr. Kelly will be partaking in festivities tonight to celebrate his acquittal. I imagine that sometime tonight, probably after midnight, most of Mr. Kelly's male party guests will have either passed out drunk or gone home. It's at this time that Mr. Kelly will retire to his bedroom and begin a bacchanal that will last for 48 hours straight and qualify him as an amateur gynecologist once the weekend is over.

I don't give a shit about this guy, his crappy music or his sexual proclivities. Congrats, R.

Actually right after the acquittal R Kelly got in his stretch limo and asked to be taken to the nearest Junior High.

Yet another embarrassment for the State's Attorney's office.

A six-year delay in bringing this case to trial? Why? There is no good reason.

Then, once the delay dragged out, they should have realized that there are few juries who would accept a six-year delay, especially for this type of case. Especially when you consider the make-up of a typical Cook County jury.

If the State's Attorney's office did not have a good case, they should have suspended the investigation a long, long time ago. What a waste of resources. Think of the money they spent on this case and how that money could have gone to help investigate and prosecute other cases. Incompetence on several levels.
