The Friday Flashback: "The Color of Money"

"The Hustler" is regarded as a film classic and Paul Newman should have won an Oscar for the role of Fast Eddie Felson when he was originally nominated for the role in 1961. Instead, he was given a belated nod in 1986 for his reprisal of the role in "The Color of Money."

That movie was shot in pool halls throughout Chicago. And oh, how we miss those halls. One of our favorite scenes involves Newman and a young Forest Whitaker as a hustler.

10:51 a.m. Update: A detailed list of the pool halls and other settings for the movie is located here.

I think that scene was shot at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn

I do declare....Paul Newman is the hottest thing that ever walked this earth.

I could watch him in "Sweet Bird of Youth" or "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof" over and over and over and over and over and over......

Is there anywhere to find a list of the actual pool halls used in Chicago?
I think it'd be cool to know how many are still around, in order to visit.

I'll update the post with a list of the pool halls in a bit.

Paul's on Fullerton was one of them. There was another on Lincoln near Irving Park and Damen in North Center, too. That one is now gone and replaced by Condos.
