I used to live and work there. The town's political figures and police admins. believe they can do no wrong because "its a free service they offer and they're doing it for the 'good' of the people and they're 'helping'!" The truth is they haven't understood "rights", "freedom" and "civil policing" for over 2 decades. They ought to "pull their heads out" and actually R E A D the laws.

It's all rolling down hill after the barricades in D.C. How soon until we need a permit to leave our buildings?

I never knew things were that "bad" in RL -- I guess they've really been working for their "Rolling Ghettos" moniker.

The Rolling Meadows Police Department should be smacked with huge fines for this behavior. This is seriously f'ed up.

There is no way the cops should be searching every person who lives in that complex on there way in or out.

Scumbags.

PS

Dear ad:

What you are referring to is known as "community policing". Many police officers also refer to it as "empty holster" policing.

Such a policy is frowned upon by law enforcement peronnel because studies show that community policing often leaves the male officers' penises very flacid. No studies have been done yet about what effect community policing has on clitorises.

What is this, East Germany?

Haven't you heard? The wall over there came down almost twenty years ago.

This is more like Chicago, 1968.

From the Daily Herald: "Between 1,800 and 2,000 people live at 12 Oaks, including about 300 children, Sparks said. About 67 percent are Hispanic and about 35 percent are black, he said.

Good to know that all 102% of the residents are safe.

This is just creepy. Where do you draw the line. If you want an increased police presence, have more patrols drive through. Or better yet, have the owners offer a discount (or free rent) to single police officers willing to live in the buildings off hours (the town I went to college in did this to cut down on crime in bad neighborhoods). Setting up road blocks and forcing people leaving by car to be "examined" by an officer, however, violates the constitution in my opinion. What is this, East Germany??

While I know nothing about this complex, the way that the cops are treating people makes me think that this place is has a minority population.

Also, does the fire dept know about the road blocks? Those barriers look pretty substantial and could pose a problem with getting fire equipment in the event of an emergency. The reason there are so many exits is that zoning most likely requires them. The cops can't block them on a whim.

Why not actually do police work to combat crime instead of harassment?
