Walter Jacobson Arrested for DUI

2008_6_19.jacobson.jpgBeloved local newsman and father of our favorite doc on House Walter Jacobson was caught driving drunk last night in Lincoln Park. Police responded to a call that someone was driving erratically and had hit a parked car, and lo and behold, the offending driver was the 70-year-old Jacobson. Police say a Breathalyzer test showed Jacobson's BAL was over the legal limit. [Trib]

maybe he was going undercover as someone who got a DUI ...

All I remember from him is exploitive, sensationalist journalism. Maybe he was sick of being a local Nancy Grace.

(Or has he come out with something more worthy of watching lately?)

Really? His son is your favorite doctor on House? Wilson is much more interesting as a character and a better actor. And what about the new doe-eyed female and her do-I-or-don't-I with Huntington's? Chicagoist must not watch much House.

I watch House fanatically! Wilson just gets shit on all the time, and as much as I love him (a lot) and as great as Robert Sean Leonard is (really great), I don't think the writers give him enough to do. And Thirteen is a horrible, horrible actress. Plus I liked the Huntington's storyline better when it was on Everwood.

This is not Mr. Jacobsen's first brush with the law. Remember that, after resisting arrest over a driving violation in which he appeared drunk, he accused police of harrassment.

He wanted some cops disciplined. He even went after them in his commentary segment on the news.

That's right. He used the newscast to fight his private battle over his bad driving incident.

Hey Walter, to lambast the cops again, just use your segment again. Oh, wait, you don't have one! Bwahaha!

Jacobsen is still doing news commentary -- He contributes weekly to WBEZ's 848 program. Mostly, the commentaries are terrible.

you're calling Thirteen a horrible actress.. and you watch Everwood?

Don't knock it 'til you try it.

Yea I did hear Jacobson on WBEZ aka White Liberal Radio, figures they would pick him on to reach out to the "working class"

Actually as we speak thier annual summer pledge drive is keeping my dog company at home.

Hummmmmm, I got an idea. Maybe Jacobson should do a pay-per-view fundraiser going against Ward Up in a ultimate fighing last man standing cage bout!

If Jacobson wins he keeps the cash for his defense. If Ward Up wins the funds could go to bail out cops when they get arrested.

@ Shannon- Good point.

@ ML- Wilson may get shit on all the time, but it's a nuanced and complex shitting. And Wilson is a way better actor than our DWI's son, don't you agree? They sure don't give him much to work with. "Oh, you left your lucrative plastic surgery practice to do a fellowship? How. . .interesting. Oh, you're having marital troubles, too? How unique for a physician." Hell, I can play a grumpypants as well as he can.
