It is such a shame what happened to Jim. This band was such an inspiration. I read an article over at http://www.filthylucre.com/jim-ellison-material-issue that said Ted Ansani and Mike Zelenko are still playing together in the Chicago area.

The drummer Mike Zelenko is with the "The Ladies & Gentlemen", they play occasionally in the Chicago area. I'm good friends with his younger brother Steve. He's the same age Mike was when the above picture was taken... the resemblance is amazing.

I was around then and loved the band. One of the best power-pop groups anywhere, and I still listed to their stuff to this day. P.S. Guys - never kill yourself for a girl, there are lots of others out there and you'll probably be better off with a new one anyway!

no one ever talks about "destination universe." that album has some wonderful tracks ... "next big thing" and "everything" to name a few. not to mention deep cut "don't you think i know." god, every time i think of jim ellison, i just get terribly sad. what else could have happened with material issue? the world may never know. gah.

Bassist, Ted Ansani, still performs occasionally in the Chicago area with his band Mighty Pilot and also as the Ted Ansani Project.
