It's Crosstown Classic time again. The Cubs and Sox will take to the field over this and next weekend for city pride and bragging rights. That both teams are in first place and (knockonwood) could actually contend for postseason glory raises the stakes significantly.
We all know about the tradition of honoring Harry Caray by singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch. So we thought we'd give you the actual article today. Here are some of Harry's best renditions of that timeless classic.
Let this be a reminder to Cubs fans: Before the tribune bastardized the stretch, Harry started it on the South Side.

Bastardized?
whaaaaa......
Seriously Chicagoist, try to post something where you don't try to make a 'yeah, well I'm better than you are' 12 year-olds comment.
wait...harry started singing the Stretch at Comiskey! For the Sox! Blasphemer! Next you'll tell me that he used to call games for those hated Cardinals!
Mepps...I don't know if that's so much a Chicagoist thing or a Sox fan thing. Granted it's a blog so they lay on the snark.
If I could throw an empty beer cup at Chicagoist, I would. Then I'd look behind me like "who threw that cup?"
yawn
Aren't we missing the important issue here. Mariotti's Sun-Times, and discerning Chicagoans everywhere, demand to know - whose fans are hotter?!?!
It may have started at Comiskey but the Wrigley made it famous.
Anyway, going to the Cubs game today in my oversized 1985 WSox jersey. I'm sure someone will throw mustard on it or something...
I prefer the Trib asking who's fans are fatter
Perhaps one of you with more knowledge than I can answer this. In the murals painted on the outfield concourse at The Cell, why is Harry picutured shirtless?
