Planes, Trains, Automobiles: Surf, Ride, Steal

American Airlines is going to "test" in-flight internet access starting tomorrow on some flights from LA to New York, and while the testing phase is free, the airline plans to charge for access down the road, so get ready to pony up between $9.95 to $12.95 if you 1. fly American and 2. can't go a few hours without internet. More passengers than ever are taking Amtrak from Chicago to Milwaukee, a trek we can enthusiastically recommend. Quiet car, I love you so much. Last month, 64,000 passengers took the ride, which is $42 round trip and about an hour and a half each way. [AP]

A woman who allegedly stole a dump truck and lead police on a half-mile chase was held on a $20,000 bond yesterday. She was charged with all the typical truck-stealing stuff plus "possession of hypodermic needles." No one was hurt. [WBBM]

yes. the hiawatha service to milwaukee (or sturtevant, if you come from supa-small town 'sconnie) is awesome. there's the getting trapped with your parents with no car and having to be on someone else's schedule, but for $21 (did it go up another buck? it costs me $20 to go to sturtevant), you can hardly beat it with gas what it is these days.

not to mention the potential for snoozing and whatnot. go amtrak. now if i could only do without the weird snack car guy who obviously failed his 'last comic standing' audition.
