Bottom Lounge's (Not So) Secret Weapon
Until Bottom Lounge (re-)opened, in order to find a good tiki lounge one had to travel to the suburbs. Within the city limits Trader Vic's closed last year, paving the way for the overpriced and subpar Lockwood restaurant. Trader Vic's was the lone standout for years after Ciral's House of Tiki in Hyde Park put up the shutters in 2000.
Bottom Lounge's "Volcano Room" is possibly the club's star attraction. A 5,000 square-foot tiki-themed lounge with and adjacent 2,000 square-foot outdoor patio, the Volcano Room looks to fill the void quite nicely with over 50 brands of rum and 100 island-themed cocktails.
Bottom Lounge will showcase the Volcano Room this weekend with its first annual Rum Fest. Passes for the two-day festival cost $125, but interested parties can also buy tickets to any of the individual events listed here.
Bottom Lounge is located at 1375 W. Lake St.

First experience with new Bottom Lounge:
No access to outside deck, "sorry it's closed."
Bad chain wallet, backwards baseball cap, goatee and tatoos: *FUCKIN'RAWK DUDE!* music blasting, and I mean so loud that you can't talk to your friends eating next to you with out *yelling* in their ear, and at an early 8pm with the place nearly empty. Several big flat screens showing "Who wants to fuck a farmer" (or whatever that reality show's called)
At least the beer and food was good.
Will be wary of a return though.
Atmosphere: 0
