Yesterday's thunderstorms caused two seiches (recall: a seiche is an oscillating, rather than a progressive, wave that causes severe and rapid changes in water levels). Last night, water levels in Lake Michigan shifted by as much as two feet, which prompted officials to close beaches. But beaches are open today, so don't be too sad.
We're looking at clear skies through Monday, with comfortable temps and ideal hanging out weather, but things should heat up over the next few days. So beautiful. And yet the search for this year's summer jam continues. [Trib, NWS, photo by Louise LeBourgeois]

I read about the seiches too! That's pretty cool. I am not too sad, no, because the beaches are back open today and I have a short day at the office.
Seiche is also kind of a cool word, dontcha think?
